Breadth #8

Scratchboard and photoshopping... messing around.

breadth #7

A re-do of one of my pieces from last year, I added a lot of green into the background to make the red come forward and the shadow go back.
Original

Breadth #6

better background/more white

A little art book that I did. This is really fun for me and I really like how it turned out.

breadth #5

Black and white still life of my desk.
This is from last year and will probably hold this breadth #5 slot temporarily.

Breadth #4

Is this better??
Watercolor

Breadth #3

fixed color

My first attempt at stippling... What an experience.

Breadth #2

Compressed and ready to go!!

Self Portrait made with paper pulp. This has been a long process with drying and breaking. I recommend this medium to anyone because it is really fun to play with and it has a lot of potential for other art projects.

Concentration #12

its about time.....

Obviously not done... I am going to add the same tracing paper effect over the surface like I have done on all the other pieces. on the right I am going to do the death of the queen. where she puts on the heated iron shoes and she dances until she dies. the other side is contrasting the death is the marriage of the prince and snow white. in the window I am going to do a transparency print of a boy and girl kissing. the top is going to have wedding bells with ribbon connecting them. I am thinking about doing words again but when I put in all the elements I will see if it is too busy.

Concentration #11

better picture..
Newest work... comments... I kinda don't know how I feel about it.
In the top window I am going to add an embossed crown representing the prince that falls in love with snow white.
In the second window will have a zoom up on a dwarf. the other 6 will be tromping around over the two pages.
I might have to suck it up and actually draw Snow White but if I can think of something that I think will look better I will.
I want this to look a little less cartoony. I think once I add the other media it will look more cohesive with with rest of the piece. I don't know this one has been bugging me for a while because I don't really know how to represent it. The Black and white picture below is from my brother's grimm book and this is the image I am trying to reproduce.

Concentration #10

Is the photoshopping too obvious??
Newest image... I really like the black background. I thinking I am going to take one more with an apple in it. But this is compressed and ready to go AHHHH :D

The stay-laces.
The poisoned comb

This is the scene where the evil queen is poisoning Snow White. She tries three times only succeeding with the apple. I was debating about doing some words because every time the queen fails the mirror says "You, my queen, may have a beauty quite rare , but beyond the mountains, where the seven dwarfs dwell, Snow White is thriving, and this I might tell: Within the realm she's still a thousand times more fair." So maybe do the citra-solve words thing like I did is the previous page. Also the apple is a real apple so I took the picture.. then ate it. I may try to find something more permanent. But I was really excited about my poison bottle! it citra-solved so great!

Concentration #9

Final picture!! Compressed and ready to go :D

You can't see the face in the mirror so i did a close up in the next picture. This is the scene where the evil queen is talking to the mirror and decided that she is going to try and kill her. The blood spatters on the right are supposed to be when she sends the hunter to kill her. The hunter cannot bring himself to kill her and slaughters a pig instead. I don't know if I should add the box in the picture because it is from the cartoon instead of the original story.

Concentration #8

(I think) final image... how do you think about the paper behind the sewing machine?? does it take away from the piece? But on the other side I need it to see the transparency.
OK so I have totally redone this. FINALLY it came together. I still have to add blood on the finger and a sewing needle and thread that will tie together the images. I am hoping the actually sew the thread to the cover but idk if I can get through the cover. But all together I am really happy with the way it turned out and that it is finally finished :)
This is the first page of my second book. It is the scene where snow white's mother is sewing and drips blood onto the snow and decides she wants to have Snow White. There is going to be another page where the snow from this page turns into the blankets covering the baby Snow White. Ummm I messed up on the flowers... I think I did too many so i am currently trying to correct my mistake. Also I think I might extend the window sill because it will be where the blood is spilt. Also I am going to do the blood in nail polish, as to give it a glossy and deep red. I am not finished but am working on it during this week of catching up.

Concentration #7

This is the cover of the next book I am going to reproduce; Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
This is actually pretty much done. I have worked on it for some time now doing different templates mediums, experimenting and starting over multiple times. But I am pretty happy with the final product.

Concentration #6

FINAL image.
This is the cover for my first book; Little Red Cap. I decided to use the name Little Red Cap instead of Little Red Riding Hood because it is the actual title used in the Brothers Grimm Story. I first painted a layer of acrylic paint then used an Elmer's glue wash and put down tissue paper. Then I made a stamp and embossed it over the front. Finally I added the border and the embossing on the title. The title isn't exactly what I pictured. I Pictured a really elaborate title, but I was just getting used to the embossing pen and it was thicker than i would have liked. I want to go back into this but I am afraid that it will be too busy or too much... any comments?

Concentration #5

FINAL image.
My final page. I figured out how to put this picture on FINALLY. Everyone in class knows that I tried citra-solve gel medium an what seems like everything else. But instead I just printed the picture and cut off the top of the well. I also drew on the picture to make it look like the book's characters. I really like how the background turned out because it looks like it fades into the horizon. But I still want to add some more texture and different mediums.

Concentration #4

I mean.... it's whatever
I put in my glass window. I am hoping to build a molding with actual wood around the glass making it look less rough. But I am not sure what I should do to represent the hunter killing the wolf.
ummmm... obviously needs some work. I think the right page is pretty much done but the left I am going to add a new window frame and curtains. I had cardboard and tissue paper there but it looked BAD so I am going to go back in when I have the chance.
